Effective decision making

Effective decision making

Producers from Swifts Creek to Bundalaguah and surrounds had the opportunity to attend a workshop last week with guest presenter, Cam Nicholson, a farmer and consultant from near Geelong.
His on-farm experience and ability to walk people through the decision making process behind some of the big farming decisions makes him a popular presenter.
“In farming, a lot of people use rules of thumb,” Cam said.
“Sometimes they don’t even realise they’re deciding things by using an old rule of thumb.
“But are our rules of thumb actually a barrier to doing something differently?”
In autumn big farming decisions often include pastures, annuals for quick fodder or renovation of the perennials, to fertilisers depending on budgets or buying/selling livestock.
