Companies in East Gippsland who rely on a fleet of diesel trucks to keep their businesses moving remain hopeful that they won’t run out of AdBlue, a required fuel additive, which reduces pollutants.
AdBlue is currently in short supply after China moved to curb exports of urea, a compound used to manufacture the product.
Dyers Distribution, based in Bairnsdale, has 200 trucks on the road, of which 90 percent are reliant on AdBlue.
Bairnsdale operations manager, Matt Coverdale, said while supply “is not currently an issue” he conceded that could change in the coming weeks.
“We have been told by our supplier that we’ll be right, so we expect to be okay, but these days you never know,” Mr Coverdale said.
