The generous support of one local charity organisation has helped another to make a much-needed purchase for the maternity unit at Bairnsdale Regional Health Service – a new, fully adjustable cot that makes life just a little easier for parents of newborn babies.
And with just a little more support, the Newborn Intensive Care Foundation (NICF), a Gippsland-based charity that facilitated the purchase, could buy another Neocot for the nursery at BRHS.
NICF chair Peter Cursley said Neocots make life much easier for new mothers.
“If you see the older alternative, they are just a plastic bucket, whereas the Neocots are much more flexible and adjustable. You can attach other pieces of equipment to them. They have drawers. For mums, especially mums who have had a caesarean, they can be raised or lowered so that they are not always lifting up or bending down. They will adjust to whatever height you need,” he said.
