Festival ends on a high

A wonderful East Gippsland Winter Festival reached its conclusion with Bairnsdale's Laneway3875 buzzing with festive spirit last Saturday.
The now annual laneway event saw hundreds of locals and visitors bustle through the laneway, enjoying the street art, food vans and music from former East Gippslander and X Factor star, Andrew Wishart, who played his own hits and covers with support from Ashley Carmody.
Bairnsdale Chamber of Commerce vice president, JJ Driscoll-Plavins, said laneway events continue to increase in popularity and this year's winter festival version was no different.
"It was a huge success," he said.
"We had hundreds of attendees, glow sticks were a huge hit with more than 1000 sold. The busiest time was between 5-7pm when the families took full advantage of the glow disco, snow machine and face painting."
Mr Driscoll-Plavins said the chamber was grateful for the community support and is looking forward to the next Laneway3875 event in October.

The laneway event capped off a brilliant four weeks of the festival, which organiser, Adam Bloem, described as “magical”.
