Standing for each other

Standing for each other

“ANZAC Day is an opportunity to reflect on how lucky we are, the sacrifices that have been made for us to live in a free and fair nation and to enjoy the company of our friends and family.”
Those were the words of Bairnsdale RSL Sub-branch president, Allan Pappin, CVO AM.
Generous crowds in excess of 1000 people turned out to both the dawn and late morning services, with clear skies and warm weather providing the perfect backdrop.
The march was led by East Gippsland Brass and included members of the Police and Air Force, as well as ex-service and service personnel.
Mr Pappin gave the opening address, asking those in attendance to give thought to the 4000 Australians currently serving on overseas operations.
He also thanked the men and women of the Australian Defence Force (ADF) for “their willingness to stand for those who cannot stand for themselves, to stand for each other”.
