Magic for Manning

Magic for Manning

The Omeo and District Racing Club hosted its traditional Labour Day weekend meeting at Hinnomunjie on Saturday, with a record crowd in attendance to witness Sale trainer, Reg Manning, lead in the trifecta in the 147th running of the Alec Manning Hinnomunjie  Cup.
Cheeky Prince gave young Mornington jockey, Henry Jaggard, his biggest win in the sport, proving too good for stablemates, Sarwatte and Anything But in the $7000 feature race named in honour of Manning's dad, a racing legend in these parts.
For Manning it was his 28th Hinnomunjie Cup, including 17 as a jockey and 11 as a trainer, and although he had trained a trifecta in a race before, this was right up there in his career highlights.
"It's a pretty special feeling, without skitting we trained the trifecta in the 2016 Healesville Cup and at a race Balnarring but to do it in this race means the world to me, named after dad, it doesn't get much better than that," Manning said.
