Cells empty in a happy New Year

Cells empty in a happy New Year

East Gippsland police are praising crowd behaviour on New Year’s Eve.
In Paynesville, where many people flocked to the restaurants and cafe’s, and along the foreshore, to welcome in the ‘New Year, police reported the evening being incident free.
Many families enjoyed a picnic on the edge of the Lakes as they listened to live music from Stu Hughes and the Blues Cruise on the new floating tin shed.
At 9.30pm they were entertained with fireworks.
Police also commended crowd behaviour at Nicholson where many people celebrated on the banks of the river, at the local hotel, at the Nicho Store and in the holiday park.
They too were treated to a light show as fireworks lit up the sky.
At Lakes Entrance, where between 45,000 to 50,000 people gathered to celebrate the New Year and witness the fireworks, crowd behaviour was relatively in check.
