How can collisions be avoided?

Bairnsdale residents living near the local primary school on the corner of McCulloch and Nicholson streets are fearful a fatality is only a matter of time.
Last week a group of concerned residents spoke to the Bairnsdale Advertiser about the danger in the hope that motorists will slow down and approach the intersection with care.
Jacqui Francese, who lives on McCulloch Street, said “there have been many collisions at this intersection”.
“Not all are severe, but in the last month alone there have been four collisions,” Ms Francese said.
“One of those involved three cars.” Ms Francese says the intersection is at its busiest during school drop off and pickup times.
“I have written to the council several times,” she said.
