Council members are elected to provide viewpoints from their constituents and as such there are varying viewpoints on COVID vaccinations within council.
The majority of East Gippsland shire councillors, and chief executive officer, Anthony Basford, are double vaccinated.
Mr Basford, who was fully vaccinated in August, said all council staff must be vaccinated in accordance with mandatory timeframes included within Victorian Government directions.
“Following direction from the Victorian Government, only those aged 16 years and over who are fully vaccinated from COVID-19, or medically exempt and wearing a mask, are permitted to enter specified council facilities,” Mr Basford said.
“These facilities are published on our website and became effective from 6pm, October 29.”
