Calls to seal Benambra-Corryong Road

A chorus of voices are advocating for the sealing of the Corryong-Benambra Road to be made a priority.
East Gippsland Shire councillor, Arthur Allen, represents the region on the South East Australia Transport Strategy (SEATS) and told the Advertiser that the road “is in the mix for the top two priority projects” seeking funding.
Cr Allen said at a meeting in late July with the executive officer of SEATS, Andrew Martin, there was support for it to be prioritised.
Cr Allen had earlier raised the issue of the Benambra-Corryong Road with SEATS in February prior to a visit by the East Gippsland Shire Council to Benambra in May where locals voiced their concerns about the unsealed road.
Sharon Firebrace, who is president of the Benambra Progress Committee, said: “Some would say we’ve been waiting 50 years for the road to be sealed”.
