As East Gippsland continues to feel the impact of COVID restrictions on community sport, the Advertiser has cast its collective minds back to the years between 2010 and 2019, putting together an Omeo District football team of the decade.
Using various resources including league best and fairest votes, individual awards, advice from coaches from the era and our own local sporting expertise, the Advertiser have selected a full side (including the wing positions usually absent from ODFNL football) that would be best placed to compete in a higher level of competition.
These coveted team of the decade spots are picked on a positional basis, with six midfielders, defenders and forwards picked alongside an extended six-man bench in a side that the Advertiser believes would be best suited to winning a do-or-die game on any given day.
