Waldo the bush poet

PODCAST - Former Bairnsdale resident, Lyn Bayley, better known as Waldo the bush poet, was back in town last week for a whirlwind visit.

The son of stock and station agent, Ian 'Kitch' and Peg Bayley, Mr Bayley grew up as a young lad on Grant Street and attended Bairnsdale's 754 Primary School before finishing his schooling at the local high school.

Now 80, he retains fond memories of growing up in Bairnsdale declaring "its still my favorite town."

Mr Bayley has led an interesting life and became a bush poet while living at Humpty Doo in the Northern Territory.
Now living in Tasmania, Mr Bayley has written a book of poems, about 20 of that state’s native wildlife, that will soon be published.
