Fix stockyard track

Swifts Creek Bush Nurse manager, Sue Carroll, is still waiting for the access road to her property, known as Stockyard Track, in Tongio, to be fixed.
Ms Carroll found herself being handballed between the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning (DELWP), and the East Gippsland Shire after she sought to have the track, which integrates into Stockyard Road, repaired after fearing she would become stuck in the large potholes and ruts.
The East Gippsland Shire has now confirmed “it is the responsible authority” for Stockyard Track.
“Access to Ms Carroll’s property is a private driveway on an unused road reserve. It is not on council’s Public Road Register and therefore council has no responsibility to provide maintenance of it,” a spokesperson for the Shire said.
Ms Carroll disputes the Shire’s narrative that it is her driveway.
The Shire says “it is currently conducting a major road rebuild to provide access to a number of property owners on Stockyard Track following multiple storm events over summer”.
