A travelling pantomime

If you’ve noticed some slightly unusual activities in Howitt Park in recent days, you’ve probably witnessed the cast rehearsing for the forthcoming Alice in Wonderland pantomime.
Originally planned to be held in September, COVID lockdown determined that this travelling pantomime be rescheduled to school holidays in January 2022.
The 15-strong cast aged from seven to 70, consists of four adults and 11 children who have been working hard to ensure they deliver a polished performance under the directorship of local playwright, Tiff Vatcher.
Originally from Mallacoota, Ms Vatcher, and her colleague, local school teacher, Jenn South, run Upstage Theatre School for school-age children to learn the foundations of acting and to promote their self-worth and confidence through drama.
“Following the Black Summer Bushfires, I wanted to do something to assist the Mallacoota community so I focused on writing a play for the kids as a bushfire recovery initiative,” Ms Vatcher said.
