Subdivision remains at a standstill

The future of a 208-lot residential subdivision at Wy Yung remains up in the air after East Gippsland Shire Council failed to make a decision regarding its future last week.
The development of 30 Clifton Creek Road had received 32 objections from community members concerned about a host of issues, including its impact on the environment (including the nearby creek) and the impact of additional traffic on the nearby road networks among others.
Those residents whose properties adjoin the farmland, on which the subdivision is mooted, were especially concerned about the septic tank system proposed for the 208 lots.
The developer – Wy Yung resident, Barry Wood, had no plans to join the subdivision to the shire’s existing reticulated sewage system, but each lot would have its own septic tank, making each property owner responsible for its maintenance and upkeep for evermore.
