An East Gippsland woman, who fled domestic violence seven years ago, is in the process of establishing a fund to help other women in similar circumstances.
Jenny left the area to move to Queensland with her partner, *Jack, for a new life in Queensland.
She was 17 going on 18 when she met Jack, who was 10 years older.
Looking back she now believes his suggestion that they move so far away from where she grew up was designed to isolate her from family and friends.
Jenny says Jack ticked all the boxes of abuse toward her – psychological, financial and physical.
“It was just little things in the beginning,” she said.
“It probably started out as psychological and progressively got worse.”
