The Earth moved

An earthquake, which rattled East Gippsland last week, took many people by surprise.
The magnitude 5.9 quake, which had its epicentre near Mansfield, struck at about 9.15am.
In Bairnsdale, people who had not long arrived at their offices and shops initially dismissed the quake as a truck rumbling by.
Jayme Waites was behind the counter at Seven Sundays on the main street when the earth started moving.
“The lights were shaking and we thought it was a truck at first,” Ms Waites said.
At the Westpac Bank, further up the street, security guard, Josh Henschel, described the tremor as a “crazy experience”.
