Proposed Kmart site questioned

Proposed Kmart site questioned

Submissions to Victoria’s Minister for Planning, regarding a plan by Kmart to establish its new store at 598-610 Main Street Bairnsdale, will close later this week.
Kmart has already had plans drawn up of what the new store would look like on the site of the current Bairnsdale Motor Inn.
The planning documents are currently with the Minister and would require a change to the East Gippsland Shire’s current Planning Scheme for the build to go ahead.
The development would see the demolition and removal of the existing buildings, structures and trees and construction of a single-storey retail building, including loading bays.
More than 200 car parking spaces would also be constructed along with 18 spots to park bicycles.
