Police car rammed at Toorloo Arm

A 30-year-old Nicholson man who ploughed into a police vehicle early on Saturday evening was arrested by police in Eastwood late on Monday afternoon.
The man, a long time resident of the area, was behind the wheel of a stolen G-Wagen, owned by the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning (DELWP), when it drove out of the Colquhoun State Forest, on the Lakes Entrance-Colquhoun Road near Toorloo Arm, at 5.45pm and collided with a police highway patrol car.
The police vehicle was stationary at the time with two police officers inside.
The two officers, a male and female, were taken to Bairnsdale Hospital for soft tissue damage but later released.
Both are recovering at home.
Witnesses reported the offender allegedly emerged from the DELWP truck and ran off “clutching his chest”.
