New name, new logo

New name, new logo

Since 1975 Gippsland Lakes Community Health has been providing the local community with health services and support to help residents live well.

On Tuesday, this iconic organisation unveiled a new name and a new logo when it officially opened the doors of its new building in Bairnsdale, GLCH now known as Gippsland Lakes Complete Health.

“We wanted our new name to reflect the fact that we provide the services and support that meet a range of needs of our community members, so they can live well by achieving and retaining complete health,” chief executive officer of Gippsland Lakes Complete Health, Sue Medson OAM, said.

“After all, that’s exactly what we’ve been doing for the past 40 plus years, and what we’ll continue to do – hopefully for another 40 plus years.

“This change actually began with a simple review of our current name and slogan, our ‘identity’, if you will, and we started the process thinking we would just make a few tweaks, but it ended up as a full overhaul.

“The name ‘Gippsland Lakes Community Health’ was the result of a previous rebrand, which took place in March 2005 when it was decided that particular name better reflected the geographic area. This was compared to the organisation’s then current name of ‘Lakes Entrance Community Health’.

“This new 2019 logo was designed by a local Bruthen designer, and the graphic represents the diverse range of available services and how they link together to provide the best possible care for all community members.

“Of course, despite the change in name and logo, through our five locations in Bairnsdale, Lakes Entrance, Bruthen, Metung and Nowa Nowa we will continue to deliver the same great service under the same acronym – ‘GLCH’ – and via the same existing contact information.”

The new name was launched in conjunction with GLCH officially opening the doors to its recently completed multi-million dollar capi-tal works project at 66 McCulloch Street in Bairnsdale.

“The facility expansion has created more than double the space we occupied previously, resulting in more meeting spaces and consulting rooms to support the additional 50 staff needed to meet the growing demand for health, aged and social services in the region,” Ms Medson said.

“The capital works project took 24 months to complete, and was part-funded by the Federal Government’s Building Better Regions Fund, the Victorian Department of Health and Human Services and our own savings in order to upgrade our existing facilities so we can better meet the needs of our community.

“We’re excited to share our new building, new name, new logo with the East Gippsland community, but we’re even more excited to be able to deliver increased services and support to even more people, as a result.”

Federal Member for Gippsland, Darren Chester, secured $500,000 in Federal Government funding towards the extension in partnership with GLCH.

“The development will not only support the needs of local people but also support the additional 50 staff needed to meet the growing demand for health and aged care services in the region,” Mr Chester said.

“Gippsland Lakes Complete Health is investing in our community, not only by expanding support needs but also using a local builder and supporting local jobs.”
