The Metung Bakery opened its doors yesterday following the devastating fires that tore through four businesses in the village last month.

Lam Nguyen and his extended family have re-opened the bakery across the road from their previous business.

The family has spent the last few weeks setting up the larger premises with new equipment.

After a wait to have the power connected, AusNet connected the service last week and Mr Nguyen has been busy testing out the new ovens before flinging open the doors to eager customers for the busy summer rush.

The lakeside village has welcomed an influx of tourists and visitors for the Christmas / New Year break with water lovers being treated to ideal conditions for fishing, boating and watersports.
