Local hunter’s passion and concern

As a 10-year-old boy, David Young was obsessed with duck hunting.
He would race home from school, quickly change his clothes, strap a cartridge belt around his waist, grab his shotgun and ride his bike down to the Macleod Morass.
Young David would stay in the morass until it was dark before riding his bike back home with a couple of ducks on his back and his 12-gauge shotgun across the handlebars.
Mr Young is now a grandfather and the conservation and hunting officer for Bairnsdale Field and Game.

CAPTION: David Young prepares to erect a duck nesting box on a tree in Macleod Morass.
