Modern policing in Bendoc

Despite a campaign by the Bendoc community to have a permanent police member stationed in the far East Gippsland township, it’s unlikely to ever occur again.
Superintendent of policing for the Eastern Region, Mark Edwards, told the Advertiser prior to Christmas, that installing a full time police member in Bendoc “at this stage it’s not going to happen”.
Instead, regular patrols will make the journey to Bendoc to keep an eye on the community and police will continue to “constantly monitor what’s going on up at Bendoc”.
Superintendent Edwards said the strategy represents modern policing.
“We’ve got a service delivery model that we’ve put in place in consultation with the community,” he said.
“It’s probably providing a policing service up there like they’ve never seen before to be honest with you.
