Bairnsdale Neighbourhood House to rebuild

Bairnsdale Neighbourhood House (BNH) has outgrown its dilapidated old building in Dalmahoy Street and plans are afoot to demolish the exisiting structure and rebuild.
Chief executive officer of the Neighbourhood House, Leanne Jennings, says due to “structural issues” associated with the 32-year-old building, knocking it over is the only course of action.
Ms Jennings says the house has “passed its used by date” as a professional community resource.
It’s hoped through available government grants and community donations the Bairnsdale Neighbourhood House can raise $3.5 million to rebuild at the existing site.
Plans have been drawn up and a town planning permit issued by the East Gippsland Shire to erect a more modern, versatile building that will meet the needs of Bairnsdale Neighbourhood House in its present day activities following engagement with Development Solutions Victoria.
